Antoinette Marie Reece

December 6, 1926 ~ April 20, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old
Antoinette Marie Bogetti Reece, age 90, passed away April 20, 2017 at Tracy Community Hospital with her family by her side. Antoinette was born on December 6, 1926 in Ventura, California, and raised in Tracy where her parents, Antone and Jeanne Bogetti, farmed. Antoinette was the third of six children, including the late Bertha Thoming, the late John Bogetti, the late George Bogetti, Albert Bogetti and Robert Bogetti.

Antoinette attended Jefferson Elementary School and graduated from Tracy High School. Following high school, Antoinette helped with the war effort by working as support personnel at the Vernalis Naval Air Station. In 1946, she met and married the handsome green-eyed sailor Russell Reece. They made their home in Vernalis, where Russell farmed and they raised their family. Russell and Antoinette were blessed with four children, Jeanne, John, Pete and Leslie.

Antoinette always kept herself busy. You could find her behind the wheel of the St. Bernard’s School bus, coaching children’s sports teams, or volunteering at the school. She loved square dancing with the Tracy Twirlers, creating delicious meals for her potluck group and playing cards with her card club for over 60 years. She helped manage her brothers’ local restaurant The Orchard as well. Antoinette always enjoyed traveling, whether it was with family and friends or with Russell to his USS Franklin reunions. She loved spending time with family in Aptos at the beach and doing crossword puzzles in her favorite chair in her kitchen. Her home, which also served as the hub for her sons’ spray business, always had an open door for visitors. Antoinette was passionate about helping in the community. She volunteered at St. Bernard’s Religious Store and at Tracy Interfaith. She will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness, sense of humor, loving spirit and strong Catholic faith.

But for Antoinette family always came first and she is leaving quite the legacy behind. She is survived by her children; Jeanne MacDonald and husband Morey; John Reece and wife Renee; Pete Reece and wife Charlene; Leslie Wheelock and husband Everett; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and her beloved German Shepherd Paco. She always joked that she only let ‘good-looking’ children into her family. Her husband Russell Reece precedes her in death.

A rosary will be held at 7PM on May 2 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Tracy. The mass will be held on May 3 at 10:30AM at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at Tracy Public Cemetery.

Donations in Antoinette’s memory may be given to Tracy Interfaith Ministries, P.O. Box 404, Tracy, CA 95378 or St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 163 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy, CA, 95376. For condolences to the family, please visit www.frymemorialchapel.com.
