Darlene Gloria Quinn
Darlene, 89, Tracy, CA passed away of heart related causes April 9, 2024, at Tracy Community Hospital. She was born January 20, 1935, the daughter of Tom and Doris (McKee) Delano. Darlene graduated from San Mateo High, Class of 1953, and married David Cooper Quinn (deceased) shortly thereafter. Together they had three children Bruce, Michael (deceased) and Lisa, followed by eight grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
In 1968, Darlene decided to explore a career path and joined Bank of the West as a bank teller. During her lengthy career with the bank, she held a series of positions of increased responsibility culminating in a position of Vice President when she retired.
After retiring from her banking career, she started volunteering in 1999 at a local charity, Tracy Interfaith Ministries. Seeing a need, she soon filled the vacant position of Director. She started working on the fundraising project to build a new facility that is now located in Pescadero Park. As a result of this accomplishment, Tracy Interfaith Ministries was named non-profit of the year and the following year Darlene was named Woman of the Year. It was then that she thought her job was done and turned in her resignation in 2018. Even after her retirement from this position she continued to support Interfaith in many ways.
Darlene continued to make people welcome and serve others even in her official retirement. At Brookdale Retirement Home, Darlene served as elected Chair of the Residents Council and Ambassador to new residents. She had a special gift of remembering and calling residents by name, always with a welcoming smile. She will be missed.
Services will be held St Paul’s Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 17, 2024, followed by an immediate burial at Tracy Municipal Cemetery. Public Viewing will be at Fry Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, April 16th 1-5 PM.
