Georgeann Silva

Georgeann Silva, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, surrounded by her loving family. Georgeann was born January 7, 1936, in French Camp, CA, to Adelbert E. Cooper and Maryann Cooper (Pollard) and has lived in Tracy for most of her 82 years. Georgeann also lived in San Francisco for a brief time in her life and attended school there.

Georgeann will be missed by her loving husband of 62 Years, John Silva, and her sons, John Silva, Ron (Cathy) Silva, and Tim Silva, Tracy, and Tom Silva, Galt. Georgeann also leaves behind 11 Grandchildren, 8 Great- Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and Godchildren, all of whom she adored.

Georgeann was preceded in her death by her parents, Adelbert Cooper and Maryann Pollard, and her sister Adele Castro.

Georgeann will be remembered for her love of her family above all else. Whether it was raising her children or spending time with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren nothing gave Georgeann more joy than her family.

Georgeann attended Central and West Park Schools in Tracy and was a member of the Tracy High School, Class of 1954. She worked for over 20 years for the City of Tracy, starting as a switchboard operator and working her way up to Secretary to City Manager. Georgeann finished her career with the City working as Secretary to the Fire Chief until her retirement in 1989. Prior to that she worked for H.J. Heinz in Tracy for several years. Georgeann was an avid sports fan and loved her Forty Niners and (“Damn”) Giants! She also loved watching her children and grandchildren compete in athletic events. Georgeann was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies in Tracy.

Georgeann and her Husband John also loved traveling in their RV and were members of the Bounder “Kangaroos”. They have been to many of the States in the U.S. and memorable places like Yellowstone Park, The Grand Tetons, The Alamo, Mt. Rushmore, to name a few. Their favorite place to travel was Pismo Beach where they loved to spend time with their children and Grandchildren and close friends. They also made many a trip to Puerto Penasco in Mexico.

A Rosary will be held at Fry’s Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Avenue, Tracy, on Tuesday, February 27, at 7:00 p.m., with viewing beginning at 12:00 p.m. Welcoming of Friends will begin at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 28, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Avenue, Tracy. A reception will be held following the Mass at El Patio Restaurant, 1005 E. Pescadero Avenue, Tracy, CA (Tracy Outlet Center).
