The Lord is My Shepherd
A Psalm of David

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want
He maketh me lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters
He restoreth my soul;
He leadeth me in the paths
of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for thou are with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of min enemies;
Thou anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow
me all the days of my life;
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
Psalm 23

That Last Night
We went through our usual day and you had a couple errands you needed to do, your nails were a must, we completed them one by one. The day ended and night came, I tucked you in as I did every night with “good night” as we both turned in The morning came and you slept late as I began to wake you there was no response, only to find you had a stroke while you slept. My heart was torn because they said you wouldn’t survive, but my faith and hope was in the Lord who kept you that “Last Night”. Whenever they said no, God said yes; the fighter you were “showed them “I’m not done yet”. Those two & half months was your assignment, the vessel that God would use to proclaim to those that said no, “there is a God”, to help some others along the way renew, restore their Faith and for others to get to know the Lord. Your assignment was coming to a close as you moved away to the new facility. Your care was perfect as they gently, lovingly met your needs.
It was that “Last Night”, I remembered the night before that you looked beyond me to that corner of the room, no one was there as you stared intently and focused on that corner. We prayed as we did each night and I asked God to give you “Peace” as you slumbered. But it was that “Last Night”, I knew God answered my prayer. You were resting peacefully; your edema was “completely gone”. I stayed a little longer that night and held your hand. We listen to a few Sermons as you rested looking my way every now and then, as I whispered softly “I’m still here”. We prayed as usual, I gave you kisses and told you I would see you on tomorrow.
The next day I got the news you were NOT going into hospice, you were going to be Long Term Care. We started making plans for your room to bring your things in. Then I received the call you were gone but they were working on you. I started to cry because I was so far away; the Lord gently reminded me that He gave me that “Last Night”. All the way I prayed asking for one last time, just one more time, but you were gone from this old world to your “Heavenly Home. I’ll cry awhile but not sad tears because I know I will see you again on the other side one day. ”. I love you beyond words and I will forever carry you in my heart. I thank God for the honor and giving me the privilege to care for you and of course spoil you. Yes, our roles reversed you were my “Spoil Baby”. Take your rest Mother; I will see you again on the other side.

Lovingly Gwen

So Long, Never Good-bye

Well, the day has dreadfully come,
We have to release you to your heavenly home.
Oh, how we will miss your sweet, sweet smile
And your voice we heard each time you were dialed
Your love was so unconditional and pure
We could count on it and that was for sure
Although our hearts are heavy and we may shed some tears
We rejoice in the Lord’s blessing of you being with us for so many years.
Our love for you will live on throughout eternity
And we’ll rejoice with you in heaven as a family
Until we meet again in that great place beyond the sky,
We will say so long, but never good bye.
To Lulie (Mama) from your Family

Denise H. Berry
