Raul Lara Zataray

Raul Lara Zataray, 86, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the comfort of his home following complications with various chronic illnesses. He was born, July 20, 1930, and raised in Juchipila, Zacatecas, the son of Raymundo Lara and Justa Zataray Lara. He served over twenty seven years working for the Naglee Burk Irrigation District as supervisor in Tracy, California.
Mr. Lara Zataray is survived by his wife Maria Lara; his sons, Alejandro, Angel, Raul; his daughters, Esmeralda, Margarita, Rosa, Yolanda; and many close friends.
His favorite pass times included being a hay broker, raising livestock, watching boxing and instilling hard working values in his children.
Raul took pride in his work ethic, always remained humble and embraced a frugal lifestyle that lead to his success in the real-estate market. He was always awake at the crack of dawn awaiting his challenges of the day. His rough hands reflected the longevity of his work and never dying tenacity to complete goals either personal or professional. His charismatic personality and shared interest lead to irreplaceable lifelong friendships. He was never more than a phone call away for his friends and family. He will lay in peace knowing that he has left his family with timeless values that will be passed in his honor for generations to come.
Fry Memorial Service, 550 South Central Avenue, Tracy, is proud to serve the Lara family. Prayers and visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 1:00 to 9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 am on Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 West Eaton Avenue, Tracy. Raul will be laid to rest at the Tracy Public Cemetery, 501 East Schulte Road, Tracy.
