Robert Walter Lane

September 12, 1933 ~ February 4, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Robert Lane passed away peacefully on February 4, 2017 at the age of 83. He was born on September 12, 1933 in San Francisco, CA and has lived in the city of Tracy since 1968. Robert is also commonly known to many of his friends and relatives, as Bob Lane.
Robert retired from his job as a maintenance worker at Dublin San Ramon Services District water treatment facility in 2004 where he has worked since November 1990.
Mr. Lane was also a military veteran who served in the U.S. Army in Korea from July 1953 until August 1955 during the end of the Korean War.
Robert enjoyed being around his two dogs (Zoey and Nonnie), and his cats (Miepe, Tigger, and Daisy). He also enjoyed classic automobiles, attending car shows and air shows. His favorite cars were the Fiat 500 and 600 from the early 1960’s generation as he was the proud owner of these cars back in the day. The Datsun (now Nissan Motor Company) was also a favorite auto manufacturer of his. His favorite restaurant was In ‘n Out where he absolutely loved the “Double-Double” burger meal with a Coca-Cola to drink. He also loved to eat at HomeTown Buffet and Chinese restaurants. Pepsi was his addictive drink of choice. World War I and II documentaries, nature shows, classic car shows, and travel shows were Mr. Lane’s favorite programs on TV. As a hobby, Robert became very interested in genealogy, trying to gather historic information on the Lane family history including old photographs of the family going as far back as the late 1800’s.
Robert loved to travel as well. During his younger years, he has been to many islands in the Caribbean, traveled to Holland, Germany, British Columbia, Vermont, and Indonesia.
Humorously, he made those around him laugh at his many tongue-in-cheek, quips, and puns.
Robert was proceeded in death by his wife (Maria “Rita” Lane) of 47 years. He leaves behind two children (Richard and Derek), five grand-children (Cherise, Jessica, Sara, Richard, and Michael), eight great-children (Jolene, Mathias, Marcos, Isabella, Mariah, Andrea, Tony, Vincent) and two great-great grandchildren (Logan, Gilbert).
