Rufina Peña Villalobos
July 19, 1925- October 30, 2017
Rufina Peña Villalobos, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home in French Camp on October 30, 2017. She was born in Otaez, Mexico, on July 19, 1925, to Gonzalo Peña and Maria Luisa Mejorado.
Rufina immigrated to the United States in the 1950’s with her husband and two oldest children. They settled in Tracy, California, where Rufina worked at various seasonal jobs, her last being at H.J. Heinz Co., before leaving the workforce to become a full-time homemaker.
Rufina will be remembered for her strong faith and devotion to Our Mother Mary, her love of children, her devotion to her family, and her delicious cooking.
As a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking for others, sewing, and caring for many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She provided a warm home of steadfast love for her husband and family, and they are forever grateful for her long life and true example of selflessness.
Rufina is survived by her husband of 69 years, Victor Villalobos, of French Camp and her sister Maria de Jesus Peña Aguilar, of Sparks, Nevada. She was the proud mother of Joseph James Villalobos of French Camp, John Frank Villalobos (Sylvia) of Riverside, Julia Villalobos (Gilbert) of Elk Grove, and Jeanette Villalobos Tober (Rodney) of Lathrop. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7 p.m., at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at St. Bernard’s Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy. Graveside services will immediately follow the Mass at the Tracy Public Cemetery, 501 E. Schulte Road, Tracy.
