What an inspiring memorial service!
God has blessed my life with Victor's life. He was a great neighbor and special friend.
My favorite memories are just talking with Victor on the sidewalk or even in the street. Everyone says "don't talk about religion or politics" but that's what we talked about the most and with Victor's great sense of humor we could laugh even when we were serious.
He also showed his heart of a servant by moving our garbage and recycle bins faithfully when we were gone.
I was privileged to visit with Victor during his courageous battle with cancer. Iris, you have a beautiful family that I saw rally around you and Victor in this very challenging time-and your sacrificial love and respect for your husband was precious.
I'd often pray with Victor and Iris when I'd visit and my wife and I prayed for them daily.
One day about 7 weeks ago, I was reading the Psalms to Victor and I started to tell him what Psalm 23 meant to me.He was pretty drowsy but all of a sudden he looked up and straight into my eyes and said"tell me about how you came to know Jesus". I said OK and told him how self-centered I was until I came to the end of myself. I knew that I was missing something in life but actually I was missing Someone and that was Jesus , who I asked to be my Lord and Savior. I knew that I had received eternal life and would be with Him in heaven.I told Victor that I wanted to be in heaven with him too, so we agreed that we were both sinners in need of a Savior and as Psalm 23 says "we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever".
Victor, I'm looking forward to that day when we will talk and laugh some more together.
George

Our deepest condolences to the entire Torres family. We enjoyed many a great moment with Victor. He loved his ice cream, straight from the box! Our moment on earth is short, so please cherish your loved ones daily.
Iris and Leah, may our thoughts and prayers comfort you: from near and far.
