Aldo Chiarella, 85 passed away on Thursday May 4th, 2023, in the care of his loving family. He was the husband of 30 years to the late Jeannine (Journet) Chiarella.
Aldo was born on July 14, 1937 in Simeri Crichi (CZ), Italy, a son of the late Giuseppe and Grazia (Fratto) Chiarella and was a resident of Tracy, California for 21 years; having previously lived for 23 years in Feeding Hills, MA.
Aldo left Italy at the age of 19 to work in France where he met his late wife, Jeannine. They had three children, James Journet, Graziella Chiarella and Raymond Chiarella. He lived in France for 22 years before moving to the US with his family in 1978 to join his brother Luigi Chiarella former owner of Luigi’s Autobody and Feeding Hills Self Storage.
Aldo worked for 19 years for EBTEC and Belt Technologies in Agawam prior to retiring in 1997.
Aldo enjoyed gardening, camping at Lake Pardee CA and cruising. He was always busy and on the go.
Aldo is survived by his children: James Journet (France), Graziella and Raymond Chiarella, his grandchildren: Marjorie Tavernet (France), Nicolas and Noah Chiarella; his great-grandchildren Julien and Johan Tavernet (France).
He is survived by his siblings in Italy: Antonio Chiarella, Graziano Chiarella, Antonietta (Chiarella) Pugliese and Maria (Chiarella) Folino; and his brother in the US Luigi Chiarella.
Aldo is survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to Aldo’s wife and parents, he was predeceased by his older brother Luigi Raffaele Chiarella, his mother-in-law Ida (Jacquemoud) Journet, his stepmother Annina (Canino) Chiarella, his brother-in-law Michel Mabut.
Calling hours for Aldo will take place Saturday May 13th, 2023, from 9:00-10:30AM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 985 Main St., Agawam.
Funeral services will then follow, beginning at the funeral home at 10:30AM; followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 11:30AM, in Sacred Heart Church, Feeding Hills. Aldo will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Springfield Street Cemetery, Feeding Hills.
