Alvaro B. Rodrigues

Alvaro Brasil Rodrigues, age 84 of Tracy, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023, at home with his family by his side. Alvaro was born February 9, 1939, in Ribeira Seca, Sao Jorge, Acores to his parents Joao Teixeira Rodrigues and Isabel Brasil Rodrigues.
Alvaro came to America in 1969 where he worked in a dairy industry and the started his career as head custodian for Banta School for 26 years. Alvaro retired in 2006. Alvaro's pride and joy was his five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, he loved watching them play sports, going to special events and most of all just having long heartfelt conversations with the. He also enjoyed his garden and raising animals. He had a smile that lit up the room. Alvaro was a member of I.P.F.E.S. society which he was president of the Holy Ghost of Tracy 1987-1988, a member of Our Lady of Fatima and St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
Alvaro is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maria Leontina Da Costa; his daughters Filomena Singleton (Clay) and Lucia Rodrigues from Tracy, his five grandchildren, Krystal, Clay Jr & Vardell Singleton, Kayla and Mya Rocha; his two great grandchildren Kryslan and Krista Schmidt; his brothers John Teixeira of Modesto, Luis Rodrigues of Linden and sister Maria de Lourdes of Terceria Acores. Alvaro also had many nieces and nephews in the Acores and California.
Alvaro is preceeded in death by his father Joao Teixeira Rodrigues and his mother Isabel Brasil Rodrigues; his five brothers Antonio Rodrigues, Arlindo Teixeira, Tome Teixeira, Tiberio Rodrigues, Jose Rodrigues; his sister Laura Rodrigues.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy, CA. A Rosary will follow at 6:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 165 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy, with a graveside service to follow at Tracy Mausoleum, 8842 W. Schulte Rd., Tracy.
Mr. Rodrigues will be greatly missed by all.
