Arati Murugeshan

Arati was born on August 15, 1935 Basanti and Priyonath Mukherjee. She was the most adventurous amongst her siblings and also the first girl to graduate among them. Arati married her college sweetheart, Murugesan in 1957 and have 4 wonderful children, all of whom reflect their mother’s amazing upbringing and values. A person that had the sweetest disposition she easily made friends wherever she went and leaves behind many that will remember her with great fondness.

Arati had many accomplishments – She started a school in India, she was the Principal of all the Naval schools in the Eastern Naval Command in India, she was the President of the Lioness Club, Founded Shishu Nikunj – an orphanage for destitute children, helped nurture women’s cricket in India and was the first Manager of the Indian Women’s Cricket team. In spite of all this she was the most unassuming and a humble human being. She loved to feed everyone and was always so full of love for everyone.

She will be missed sorely but remembered forever with fondness by one and all.
