Beatrice Garcia

April 15, 1927 ~ January 2, 2018 (age 90) 90 Years Old

A funeral Mass for Beatrice “Bea” Garcia will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church, 163 Eaton Ave., Tracy, California followed by a graveside service at Tracy Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary.

Bea was born April 15, 1927 to Joseph and Felipa Castro in Modesto, California. She attended school in Banta, California and soon worked with her two sisters to support their eight brothers, who worked in farming. Bea met her soul mate, Michael “Mike” Garcia in Tracy in 1949, and the two married on August 20, 1950.
Bea worked as a private housekeeper for many years until her retirement and was an active member of St. Bernard’s and the Tracy community.

Both from large families, Bea and Mike enjoyed singing, dancing, playing musical instruments and family gatherings. Bea, later known as “Nana”, loved traveling, cooking, her soap operas and watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. With her kind smile and spunky humor, Bea never met a stranger and enjoyed welcoming others into her home. Leading by example, Bea taught her family the meaning of selflessness, generosity, humility and strength.

Bea is preceded in death by her husband, seven brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one brother, David/Virginia Castro, and her four children, Michael Garcia, Richard/Kathy Garcia, Charles/Debbie Garcia, and Edward/Eloise Garcia; as well as six grandchildren, Andrew/Natalie Garcia, Lisa/Brian Moser, Nicklas/Cassie Garcia, Daniel/Brittney Garcia, Kayla/Merritt Thomas, and Katie/Coty McKee. Her legacy includes 11 great grandchildren, Andrea Garcia, Larrissa Garcia, Jewel Moser, Tildon Moser, Violet Moser, Maddie Fordyce-Silva, Conner Garcia, Mason Garcia, Adison Thomas, Olivia Thomas, and Sydney McKee. Nana, we carry you with us always and know that you are dancing in Heaven with Pop.
