Beatrice G. Muniz, a long-time resident of Tracy, died Tuesday the 13th of March peacefully at her home and surrounded by her loving family.
Born in 1922 in Pearsall, TX, Beatrice was one of 11 siblings born to Rev. Sabas Guevara and Gregoria Garza-Guevara. She met her late husband John Muniz in 1935 in Seguin, TX and they proceeded to move to California in 1960.
Beatrice and her late husband opened a family grocery store in San Jose but later sold it and decided to move to Tracy in 1972. It was here where they opened Country Market and worked alongside their son and his wife and their family until 2001. Most people in Tracy will remember Beatrice and John Muniz for their kindness and giving ways to anyone in need. They lived a peaceful and happy life almost making it to 57 years of marriage. Her husband, John preceded her in death in 1997.
Beatrice loved to sing and dance. She loved to write poetry and share God’s word with others. She could often be found telling jokes that would make you laugh and sometimes blush. She was full of life and radiated sunshine wherever she was. Ask anyone who knew her, and they will tell you she touched their lives with her wit and charm. She was a special lady who left a mark on so many lives.
Beatrice is survived by her son, John Muniz (Liz), Sylvia O’Dea, Betty Eltareb (Saleh), 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fry Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with her arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday, March 22 from 3:00-9:00pm. A vigil will be held at 7:00pm that evening. Funeral services will be Friday, March 23rd at 1:00pm with her final resting next to her late husband, taking place at the Tracy Public Cemetery.
