Damon M. O'Bannon

Damon Marion O’Bannon, was born on November 4, 1968 in San Francisco, CA to Marion A. O’Bannon and Wyonia J. Whittle. Damon attended Blackford High School and West Valley Junior College. He spent most of his time during those years focusing on his first love – basketball.

He was baptized at True Vine Baptist Church in San Jose at twenty-two and has had a strong and lasting relationship with God throughout his life. He married Diana Morgan on June 25, 2011 in Las Vegas, NV. He enjoyed being with his family and took pride in helping raise his two grandsons who affectionately called him “papa.”

Damon joined Local 483 Sprinkler Fitter Union and was a Sprinkler Fitter Foreman at the time of his retirement. Damon had a kind heart and loving soul and competitive spirit. He would help anyone who asked. He had a love for basketball, God, and lived to mentor and teach others. After his accident and first cancer diagnosis in 2017, he poured himself into his writing. Drafting a number of books and blog posts. In the last few years he dedicated his writing to uplifting others and being God centered. Damon was a complex individual who enjoyed the simple things in life. His greatest moments were those where he was surrounded by family and friends. He worked hard and laughed hard. He left a lasting impact on everyone that he came in contact with. Always willing to give a helping hand and to provide loving advice.

Damon is proceeded in death by his mother Wyonia J. Marshall (Whittle). He leaves behind his wife Diana O’Bannon and children Adrian Packer and Andre Packer; father Marion A. O’Bannon, sister Danielle F. O’Bannon-Watson (Calvin Watson), grandchildren: Malakhi Packer and Apollo Packer; nephew Christopher Kamari Watson, and nieces Adairia K. Watson and Sydney D. Watson, and a host of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Faith Fellowship, 577 Manor Boulevard, San Leandro, CA. A reception will be held immediately following his service.
