Tribute

Dee passed away at her home in Tracy, CA. She is survived by her sons Rich and Randy Mattos, Sister Delia (Fernandes) Fagundes, Brother Robert Costa (Evelyn), Sister in-laws Adeline Costa, Johana Nunley, Grandsons, Justin (Vanessa), Simon (Karen), and Preston (Ronnee) Mattos, great Grandchildren Kayden, Kendyl, Chase, Wyatt, Lennon and Hayes Mattos, and numbers nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Preceding Dee was her husband Richard, Parents Anthony and Deolinda, mother-in-law Barbara Mattos, sister in laws Agnes (Tony) Martin, Brothers Anthony Jr. Manuel, Leonard, and Richard Costa, and daughter-in-law Janice Mattos.
Dee was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts. The family moved to Tracy, CA where Dee served as an usher at the Grand Theatre, which she loved. Dee graduated from Tracy High School in 1948, where she met the love of her life and was married in 1950. Dee worked at the Sharpe Depot for some time then became a full time mother while doing office bookkeeping for the family farm and trucking company.
Rich and Dee could tear up the dance floor and put people in awe, she loved to cook, and have family parties. In the mornings when we would come out of the field or back from an early morning haul, you could smell the bacon, sausage and hash browns in the air. Dee loved to attend her families sporting events and games. She would listen to anyone and give her honest opinion whether you wanted to hear it or not.
For many years she would attend church daily, sometimes twice, once for her, and the other for everyone else. Dee would also babysit her grandsons so their mothers could work.
She was involved in the St. Bernard’s Mothers Guide, St. Anthony’s, IPFES, Elks Lodge, and the Italian Catholic Federation.
She will be greatly missed by all.
