It is with deep sadness and that we mourn the passing of our beloved brother and uncle Edward J. Avila (Eddie). Eddie passed away at the age of 93.
He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio & Madeline Avila along with his sisters and brothers, Mary Custodio of Tracy, Julia Scoto of Tracy, Ida Garcia of Tracy, Tony Avila of Tracy, Manuel Avila of Modesto, Joe Avila of Tracy, Lucille Olson of San Leandro, John Avila of Michigan and Evelyn Sousa of Tracy.
Eddie was born in Stratford, Ca where he lived and worked on family dairy. The Avila family then moved to San Mateo, CA and joined the dairy owned by Charlie Beffa, where he worked and then moved to the Beffa Dairy in Tracy where he finally retired.
In November of 1950 he was called to serve in the Korean War for the United States Army, for which he was very proud to serve his country.
One thing that our dear beloved “Eddie” loved to do was dance and loved going to the Portuguese Fiesta’s. He enjoyed going to Half Moon Bay to eat fresh crab. He also enjoyed just being with family and friends.
Eddie is survived by his sister Madeline Cambra of Oakdale, California. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews along with a great-great nieces and nephews who loved him very much. He will be lovingly remembered by all family members and friends.
In June of 2015 Eddie entered New Hope Post-Acute Nursing Care now known as North Park-Acute Nursing Care where he lived until his passing. The family wants to take this opportunity to thank the staff and nurses for taking such good care of our dear beloved brother/uncle.
The family wishes to thank the Honor Guard and the Patriot Guard for their services.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on November 3rd, at Fry’s Memorial Chapel in Tracy, California.
