Gary “Gato” Castro, 69, passed away at home surround by his loved ones on Sunday, November 20, 2022. A resident of Tracy, he was born on April 16, 1953 at Mary’s Help Hospital in San Francisco, CA to Rose Marie Perez and Herman Castro.

A graduate from Mission High School Class of 1971, Gary completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems at University of Phoenix in 2000. He worked for Pacific Bell, SBC, AT&T, and most recently, at CHC Consulting as a Field Operations Manager.

Gary loved to enjoy life and spend time with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, favoring the Giants, Niners, and Warriors. He frequently attended games, and even worked for the Giants at Oracle Park for 7 years. Gary was a multi-talented musician, playing saxophone and harmonica in multiple bands throughout the years including, The Jazz Poets, Thee Immortals, and most recently, Swamp Voodoo.

He will always be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, silly sense of humor, love of music and sports, and especially his love for his family.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents Rose and Herman, his brothers Hank and Sonny, and his granddaughter, Joplyn Norris. He is survived by his daughters, Heather Norris and Katie Buford, his brothers Manuel, Bernie, Joe, and Ernie, and his sister Rose. Along with his longtime girlfriend Brenda Arriola, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue, Tracy is care of arrangements. Funeral services were private for family.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 noon to 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at The Emory Hall, 1028 West Yosemite Avenue, Manteca, CA. A online guest book is available at www.frymemorialchapel.com for condolences an special messages to the family.
