Gregory Allen Shrout

April 8, 1949 ~ May 7, 2018 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Tribute

Mr. Gregory Allen Shrout, 69, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, May 7, 2018. Greg was born on April 10, 1949, in Oakland, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Edward Shrout.
Greg leaves behind his son, Matt, and daughter-in-law, Lisa; his two grandchildren, Jacob and Riley; and his sister, Deborah Fisher, and her husband, Kerry.
Greg spent his youth in the East Bay and graduated from San Lorenzo High School as part of the Class of 1967. Growing up, he enjoyed camping, swimming, and the beach. Greg was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all the teams of the Bay Area, with a little more devotion for the Giants and 49ers. He enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, and heading to the nearest casino. While working for National Spencer for over 30 years, he met many friends throughout California, the West Coast, and all over the country. He traveled to several different countries and made great memories with colleagues and friends over the years.
Greg was a family-oriented person and loved the time he spent with each member of his family. Throughout his life, it was holidays, family dinners, and special occasions with his aunts, uncles, and cousins that he looked forward to the most. When he became a dad to Matt, he was always involved in his sports and activities, being a coach and mentor along the way. Greg was overjoyed when he became a grandpa to Jacob and Riley and felt a special bond with them from the beginning. He relocated to Tracy to be closer to them and supported them in every event they took part in, and spending time with them brought him his greatest joy. He always wanted to be around them, even if it was just to take them to lunch or out to Tracy Wildlife, where he was a member. Greg was always around his family.
Family and friends are invited for a Celebration of Life memorial service that will be held on June 4 at noon at Fry Memorial Chapel, with a reception to follow at the Redbridge House. Memorial contributions in Greg Shrout’s name may be made to Tracy High Athletics, c/o Gary Henderson, Athletic Director, 315 E. 11th St., Tracy, CA 95376.
