Helen Mendizabal Garcia passed away on December 29, 2020. She was born on October 12, 1955 to Alfonso and Corazon in the Philippines. One of six siblings, she is preceded by Nancy and Rene, and is survived by Alan, Carol, and Janet. Helen was an accountant in the Philippines for several years before moving to the United States. Here, she ultimately became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. After gaining experience in different fields of nursing, she found her niche at Kaiser Permanente where she committed nearly 15 years.
Upholding her honor, she is survived by her loving family: Her husband Guillermo (Gerry), her sons Philip Gilbert and Philip Charles, her daughter-in-law Vicky, and her grandchildren Michael, Ashleigh, and Lizzy, who have all benefited from the lessons she taught and the personality traits she fostered.
Helen’s smile and laughter consistently uplifted others. She encouraged us to “be patient,” when times were tough, and she had a knack for knowing when we needed support, advice, or a laugh. She went out of her way to make people feel loved and cared for, and she will be most remembered for her generous spirit, bright personality and the kindness she exuded to everyone she met.
Because Helen loved the Holiday Season, and preferred bright colors and florals, the family has asked guests to wear festive colors, dress as if going to a holiday gathering, or to wear white.
