Tribute

Homer Magat passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 1, 2023. He was born on 09/28/1973, in Paranaque, Philippines to Rodolfo and Nelly Magat. Homer grew up in San Francisco. Growing up, he enjoyed running around with his siblings and showing them a good time. He instilled valuable life lessons in all of them that they carry with them today.

Homer was a class act; he was one of a kind. To know him was to love him and he was loved by everyone he met, but especially his family. Homer had a unique and special way of making people feel at home. He was kind, compassionate, generous, loving, strong and wise. Anytime you stopped by Homer’s house you could count on a smile, a crazy joke, his silly laugh, a cup of coffee, a delicious meal and good conversation. His siblings all looked up to him with great adoration and could count on him for advice, someone to talk to or for him just being him.

Homer proudly served his country as a soldier in United States Marine Corp and was deployed overseas on more than one occasion. Following his active-duty service in the Marine Corp, he served as a reservist and began a lengthy career with UPS. Homer was a proud man and a hard worker. He was a proud soldier, a proud brother, and a proud father. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, Mark and Claire. He enjoyed hanging out by his pool and barbequing with family and friends, working on his RC cars, cheering on his favorite Bay Area sports teams, watching UFC and singing karaoke.

He is preceded in death by his father, Rodolfo Magat. He is survived by his children, Mark and Claire; mother, Nelly; sisters, Mary Jane and Pamela; brothers, Rudy, Essel, Romeo, and Rodnel and numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly and remember him fondly. Homer was the glue to his family and will forever be the missing piece to his family’s puzzle.
