Hugh Richard 'Dick' Lesher, 96, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 30, 2021, with his loving wife of 80 years, Phyllis, by his side.
Dick was born in Stockton, California, on February 14, 1924, to Vera and Ike Lesher.
Dick was the oldest of five children. He was raised in the Bay Area and attended Hayward High School. He met his wife-to-be Phyllis in grammar school. They married in 1941 and had two children, Kent and Barry.
In 1944 Dick began serving in the US Army as a butcher. He received an Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant in 1946. Outside of his military service Dick worked 44 years as a butcher in the Bay Area.
Dick enjoyed music and live entertainment including trips to see shows in Las Vegas.
Dick retired in 1983 and moved to Tracy where he and Phyllis lived happily for 34 years. On January 11, they celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary, a milestone we are so thankful they were able to share together.
Dick was preceded in death by his sons Kent and Barry Lesher, grandson Gary Lesher and brothers Jerry and Bill Lesher. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis, daughter-in-law Julie Ford (Cameron), daughter-in-law Nancy, grandchildren Terri, Micki, Christi, Brandi, Erin and Ryan, brother Vernon, sister Lenore, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Dick also leaves behind many great and great-great grandchildren whose pictures and videos he always enjoyed seeing. Beloved by family, friends and neighbors, Dick's wit and endearing sense of humor and big heart will be deeply missed.
Dying two weeks short of his 97th birthday, Valentine's Day, Dick will always be remembered on this day (and every day) for the love he shared with us and the ways in which he touched our lives.
