Ida Geist passed away peacefully at the age of 99, on Sunday, July 21, 2019. She was born Ida Erina DalPorto on April 23, 1920 and lived in Tracy her entire life. The eldest of 6 siblings, she attended local schools and graduated from Tracy High, where she was active in Speed Ball, Basketball, Tennis, Field Hockey, and was a member of Girl's Block T. She also received a Lion's Club Award for Artistic Design. Upon graduating, she became a secretary at Southern Pacific Railroad , where she met her future husband David Geist. They corresponded during World War II, and when he returned, they dated and then married on January 26, 1947 and had 61 years together until David's passing in 2008. They had two daughters, Paula and Elissa, and Ida was a stay at home mom. She was a talented seamstress and sewed many of their dresses for them. She remained active in the community, belonging to the PTA, becoming a Girl Scout Leader, organized and was the 1st president of the then St. Bernard's Guild, a member of The Tracy Women's Club, Tracy Hospital Auxillary, the YLI, VFW Auxillary, Tracy Senior Citizen's Club, the St. Bernard's Parish Council, the Altar Society and she was Secretary of the St. Bernard's School Festival for 19 years. She was also a member of the Italian Catholic Federation #390 and volunteered at the Tracy Hospital for 22 years. After David retired they enjoyed many cruises and tours throughout the U.S., Canada, Panama, Columbia, Mexico and the Bahamas. She had a great sense of humor, an interest in people and the world, and a deep love for her family. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter Paula, her son-in-law Bob, daughter Elissa, son-in-law John, grandsons Jaymes and Andrew, sisters Theresa Matheson, Alma Wood, Stephanie Sillivan, and her brother Steven DalPorto,
