Ingrid McCullough

April 10, 1937 ~ July 27, 2019 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Tribute

Ingrid McCullough (maiden name Franzreb), 82, passed away after a battle with cancer, on Saturday, July 27th, 2019 at her home in Elbert, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family.
Ingrid was born on April 10, 1937 in Kaiserslautern, Germany to her parents Gottfried and Frieda Franzreb. She was an only child and was doted on by her parents. In her youth Ingrid was an accomplished gymnast, skilled enough to make it onto the German Olympic team. As a young girl she also attended finishing school, where she learned the wonderful cooking skills she would later pass on to anyone willing to spend some time in the kitchen.
Ingrid met her future husband, Donald, in Germany in 1960, while attending her cousin’s wedding. Donald was from the United States, but was visiting a German friend he had met while stationed there during a tour with the United States Army. Fate brought them together at the wedding, but there was no denying the strong connection they felt for each other. Upon Donald’s return to the States, they corresponded with each other diligently for three years until he invited her to the United States for a visit. She decided to stay, and in 1963 the young couple were joined in marriage and went on to enjoy 53 years of love and friendship before Donald passed away in 2016. Most of those years were in Oakland and then finally in Tracy, California, where they moved to be closer to family.
In January 2019 she moved to Colorado, on the outskirts of the Black Forest, to live in the country with her daughter and son-in-law. She really enjoyed her time in Colorado, and her love for it was evident, for it reminded her of Germany with the snow and the forest. She could always be seen out on the deck enjoying the beautiful scenery, tending her precious flowers, and listening to the music she loved. She would tell everyone that the view from her big, bedroom window was like a beautiful painting that changed with the season.
Ingrid is survived by her daughter, Susan Lee Brown and her husband Matthew Brown of Elbert, Colorado as well as her two granddaughters, Megan Leigh Brown of Irving, Texas and Sierra Nicole Brown of Stockton, California.
Ingrid was preceded in death by her parents, Gottfried and Frieda Franzreb and her husband Donald Lee McCullough.
