~Obituary~
O taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man that trusted in him. Psalm 34:8

Today we have gathered to celebrate the Life and Legacy of “Love” of Irma Jean Henderson.  She is the third child of six siblings from the marriage of Ollie Henderson and Amelia Henderson-Hall (both deceased).  Jean as she was so fondly know was baptized at an early age attending St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor-Reverend J. H. Hargenty, where she learned to love and follow Jesus.

Jean attended Morehouse High School in her hometown, Bastrop, LA where her passion for basketball was above average, earning her a scholarship to Grambling College, Now Grambling State University.  She knew all the technical terms in many sports.  Some of Jean’s joys of life was visiting her friends, conversing and making people laugh.  She especially loved Friday night fish fry with the Naylor’s. (A biscuit or two, a plate here, a plate there with something sweet).

Jean was employed at Harold Washington Community College in Chicago, IL, where she worked until retirement.  Jean united with Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church on the Southside of Chicago.  Working in the Children Ministry, attending Bible Study and Sunday School faithfully.  She was always available wherever needed.  Jean loved serving others and best of all, she loved serving The Lord…..Her Legacy of Life and Love will live on forever in our hearts.

Jean’s siblings; Ollie R. Henderson (brother), Tracy, CA, Samuel Henderson (brother, deceased), Betty D. Burrell (sister), Tracy, CA, Jerrie P. Bardell (sister), Bastrop, LA and Shirley Hall (sister), Memphis, TN
