James Loren Warner

Jim Warner age 83 passed peacefully from this life to his eternal home. He was born in Ottumwa Iowa on Aug 18th 1934 to Gerald and Eula Warner. He was raised on a farm where he enjoyed riding horses and going on adventures with his buddies. He began working at his dad’s produce and feed store at age 13.  He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1952, went into the Air Force in February 1955, and married Marsha Newell on June 1st 1955. They were stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base near Novato California. After five years in the air Force as a chaplain’s assistant, he returned to Iowa to help run the family business upon the death of his father. His mother later sold the business and Jim returned to Petaluma California to work at Western Auto. The next move was to Lincoln Illinois to attend Lincoln Christian College where he majored in music. At this time he recorded an LP of Gospel music. At the same time, he worked in the agriculture business. By now Jim and Marsha had three daughters born in California; the fourth daughter was born in Illinois. The final move back to California was in1968 when they settled in Tracy. Jim worked for Happy Holme Farms beginning his many years of serving the dairy community in the central valley. The Happy Holme Farms mill in Lodi burned down at which time he went to work for Stockton Hay and Grain (later purchased by Cargill). He became Sales manager for Cargill and covered a larger territory in California, Nevada, Oregon, Arizona, and Hawaii. During this time Jim and his family faithfully attended Grace Brethren Church.
 
After living 35 years in Tracy, he and Marsha moved to Chesapeake Landing in Ripon where they’ve enjoyed living for nearly fourteen years making many new friends.
 
Jim and Marsha were happily married for sixty two and one half years. Jim was a born again Christian who loved and served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He showed that love to all others during his life. He truly never met a stranger, but befriended all and always had a story to tell. Also, he enjoyed music, horses, and cars. Jim had a happy smile and the twinkle in his eye was there until the end.
 
He is survived by his loving wife Marsha Newell Warner and four daughters: Lori (Owen) Alford of Tracy, Janna (JB) Wilson of Manteca, LouAnn (Joe) Saenz of Prineville, Oregon, and Jamie (Philip) Perez of San Ramon, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brother Jack Warner of Ottumwa Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Eula Warner and his sister Paula Filliman.
 
Services will be held January 27th at 2:00 PM at The Crossroads Grace Church on Moffett Blvd in Manteca.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a trust fund for their great granddaughter Isla Rose Vangel who has a rare genetic disease (you can follow her journey on Instagram – Isla Rose Vangell @IslaRose511). Checks can be made out to Isla Rose Vangel and given to any family member or mailed to Marsha Warner P.O. Box 353 , Ripon CA 95366.
