Jenny Reyes Cocores 92, passed away at home on April 18th, 2021, with her husband John and family by her side. Jenny was born in Pueblo, Colorado to Fernando A. Reyes and Lola Alvarez Moncivais Reyes on April 27th, 1928. She lived there with her parents and brothers, Jose and Fernando Jr and sister Rose until her mom passed away. She was six years old when the family moved and settled in Tracy, CA.
She graduated from Tracy Joint Union High in 1946. She later started working at Montgomery Wards and the Little Flowers Shop. Jenny was always ahead of her time, working and traveling with her friends. She entered the Holy Family Sisters of the Catholic Church in 1958. She was sister Dolorita, she taught children their catechism and was later Principle of that school. She decided to leave the Holy Life of a Nun in 1970.
Jenny met the love of her life John Cocores they were married on June 19, 1971. Jenny worked with her husband of 49 years in the real estate business in Oakland, CA. They traveled to many places in Mexico and Colorado to see family. Jenny was always close to Our Lord and prayed for everyone. She had many friendships with her fellow sisters of the Holy Family Convent as well as priests in many parishes. Never forgetting them as well as godchildren and countless childhood lifelong friends from Tracy, CA.
Her and her husband, John loved taking walks at the reservoir, she loved gardening and had a beautiful garden of her own filled with beautiful flowers. Her hobbies were collecting stamps and coins.
She will be missed by her husband, John, nieces and nephews; Enrique Medina, Lola Negrete, Mary Ellen Medina, Ramona Brateng, Fernando Medina Sr, Christina, Joseph Reyes Jr, Valerie Karn, and many countless great nieces and nephews.
Jenny is preceded in death by her father; Fernando A Reyes, mother; Lola Reyes, brothers; Fernando A Reyes Jr, Jose A Reyes, sister; Rose A Medina, nephew; John Arthur Reyes, great nephew Paul Borbon, and great great nephew Joseph Bettencourt. She will be missed for her loving spirit of family and friends. Her generosity, humor, and most of all, her kindness will truly be missed.
A celebration of her life is on her 93rd birthday, April 27th, 2021 at Fry Memorial Chapel beginning at 9am located at 550 S. Central Ave followed by Mass at St Bernard’s Catholic Church located at Eaton Ave followed by grave side services at Tracy Cemetery.
