Jose Lopez Sr., long time resident of Tracy, California, has taken his final bow on the stage of life on March 4, 2021 at the age of 86 at home.
Born in French Camp, California in 1934, he spent his formative years in Tracy where he graduated from both Jefferson Elementary and Tracy High School. In pursuit of his great love and passion for music and auto mechanics, Jose enrolled at both the College of the Pacific and Stockton College in Stockton, California.
However, his educational pursuits were placed on hold as Jose's fervent patriotism led him to proudly enlist into the United States Marines Corps, serving his country on Active Duty from 1953-1957; over three of those years overseas during the Korean War.
Though Jose established many lifelong connections during his life, his most important began while stationed in Hawaii. While there, he met the love of his life: Claudina Saballa; they married on May 5, 1956.
Upon Honorable Discharge, Jose built and established his legacy in Tracy on the family property that had been passed down to him. A hardworking husband and father, Jose worked as a carpenter; honored to participate in the construction of local hospitals.
Active in the community, Jose can be remembered by many who know him in relation to his love of music. An active and involved parent, Jose assisted Tracy High School marching band during his children’s attendance, being a mentor and supporter of the musical arts. Under his Presidency of the Tracy High school Band Booster, Jose was pivotal in successfully coordinating Tracy, California’s first Marching Band Review in 1978.
Jose was an active member of his local VFW.
His much deserved retirement was spent surrounding himself with loving family and friends.
Jose is survived by his wife of over 64 years: Claudina Lopez; their four children: Jose Lopez Jr.,JoAnna Furtado, Michael Lopez, and Jeff Lopez; their children's partners; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.
