Longtime Tracy resident Salvador Ruiz, 80 passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2024. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Guadalupe Ruiz.
Born on December 21, 1943 in Gaytan, Guanajuato Mexico to parents Dimas and Basilia Ruiz, Sal grew up in Mexico before coming to the United States around the age of 19. He met the love of his life Guadalupe at the Ortega Camp where she was a worker in the kitchen and Sal was a farmworker. It wasn’t long after that, that they were married in Stockton, CA on October 19th, 1965
Sal was a dedicated worker who spent his life in the fields, tirelessly traveling wherever work called him. His commitment and hard work left an enduring mark on those who were fortunate enough to know him. As he got older, he spent the last of his working days as a farming machinery mechanic for Pombo, here in Tracy. When Sal retired he enjoyed taking day trips to Jackson with his wife, visiting with family and cooking the best tacos around and menudo. He was always so welcoming and always had a smile on his face. We will miss his laughter and his love he showed everyone.
Sal was a friend to all he met, loved by many and cherished by his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Guadalupe Ruiz; his son Mario Ruiz and wife Mayris of Phoenix, AZ, his son Chava Ruiz and wife Liz of Stockton, CA, his son Jerry Ruiz and wife Maria of Phoenix, AZ, and his son Rudy Ruiz and wife Casandra of Tracy, CA. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.
Sal is preceded in death by his father Dimas Ruiz, mother Basilia Ruiz, daughter Heidi Ruiz and grandson Mario Ruiz III.
The family would like to thank all the Dr’s that took care of our loved one, Salvador all these years. We shall be forever grateful.
