Leona Marie Willis

Leona Marie Willis passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the age of 88 in Tracy, CA. Leona was born to Albert and Bertha Mae Darr on Tuesday, October 8, 1929 in Oroville, CA. She was a lifelong resident of Tracy.
While attending Tracy High, she began working at the Grand Theatre, her first real job, first as an usher and then box office cashier. It was there, at the box office, where she met her husband, James.
In 1985, she joined the Tracy Art League, where she served in all the offices; she was the treasurer and a membership chairperson. She enjoyed painting in oils and watercolors. Leona belonged to the West Side Pioneer Association and was on the Landmark Committee. She was a 50 year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Stockton #83. She was on the Tracy Art Commission for over 10 years. Leona served as the secretary for the Arts Leadership Alliance Board of Directors and became involved in building the “Grand Theatre Center for the Arts”, which she believed would be great for the community. The box office booth was dedicated in her memory.
Leona’s motto was “The Grand Will Be Grand Again!”
She is survived by her son, Norman J. Willis and his wife Vicki, of Manteca, CA. Her 7 grandchildren: Chrissy Marie Brown, Lisa Marie Montes, Tremayne Willis, Norm Willis Jr., Eric Willis, Joey Victor and Johnny Victor; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim of 48 years.
A Memorial Service will be held at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy, CA, on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Followed by burial at Tracy Public Cemetery.
