Tribute

Louis Perry was born 04/13/1933 in Providence, RI to Luis and Marie Perry. Louis came from a large family which included 7 siblings. At the age of 12, in need of warmer weather, the Perry family moved from the East coast to the West coast. After a bit they finally settled in Tracy California. Lou worked alongside his father and brothers as a hod carrier and was an avid football player in High school often winning the hearts of many young girls.  In his senior year of High School he met his soon to be wife, Yvonne Rogers. Louis was an Army reservist in high school and after graduation wed Yvonne and enlisted in the Navy. He was deployed to Quaduline and Guam working as a construction assistant.

After Lou's separation from the military, he worked for various employers including his father, pouring concrete, laying brick and stuccoing houses throughout Stanislaus and San Joaquin County. Lou advanced his career by gaining employment as a master mason for the state of California’s state hospitals, architecture department, and prison industry. He restored and remodeled Historical buildings including the Adobe missions throughout the state of California. He wrote the recipe book for matching mud for each adobe Mission up and down the coast line. He laid brick and restored the opera house in Woodland California as well as worked on the old railroad stations brick buildings in old town Sacramento. One of his most accomplished and beautiful restorations was on the mosaic pool at Hearst castle! Louis ended his career as a teacher at the Jamestown prison teaching his trade to those folks who were getting ready to re-enter the work world.

In his retired life he enjoyed traveling, gambling, quilting, and being around family.  He quilted and donated numerous blankets to various organizations, such as the Mountain View Portuguese Hall.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Marie "Perriera" Perry: siblings Vanda and John Boreijko, Joesph and Agnes Perry, Adeline, Adeline, Patricia and Joe Legate; brother-in-law John Borges.
