Mack Charles Knight, 71, was born November 5, 1947 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and he left his earthly body on August 27, 2019 at his home in Tracy, California. At 12 years old, Mack was baptized at Priest Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Palmers Crossing, Mississippi.
Mack attended Manteca CAPS Adult Training Center in Manteca, California. Mack participated in community service which included sweeping and taking out the trash throughout the community. He was a Special Olympian who ran track. Mack was an avid bowler and received numerous medals and trophies. He looked forward to walking annually in the Relay for Life event. Mack loved life.
Mack was a member of People of Christ Missionary Baptist Church, Tracy, California where he was an active member. He helped with POC Church homeless ministry and cleaned his closet to donate clothes to the homeless.
As a result of his kind demeanor, generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by many. If you ever heard Mack laugh you would never forget it – he loved his church family, his family and his many friends at school. His favorite scripture was John 3:16 and his favorite television programs were Good Times, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Martin and Sanford and Son. His favorite songs included Cooling Water, Who Let the Dogs Out, Boogie Oogie Oogie and anything the Staple Singers sang.
He loved to do puzzles, go bowling and fishing. His favorite team was the San Francisco 49ers.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents Jesse James Knight Sr. and Mattie Lee Knight, his sister Bessie Mae Moore and Pebbles; his beloved dog. His life will forever be cherished by his brothers and sister: Jesse James Knight, Jr., John Adams Knight, Jessie May Boutte, Willie Frank Knight, Bobby Ray Knight and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Avenue. Visitation open to friends and family 12-5 p.m., on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2019. A burial will take place on 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2019 at Queens of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Prunedale, California.
