Marc R. Marchini

Marc Marchini passed away in his home on the evening of August 7, 2018. He was a long time Union Island Farmer, a strong supporter of education, and a wonderful husband, father, and Nonno.

He was born to Angelo and Clara Marchini in San Francisco on December 15, 1941. He attended Tracy schools and graduated from Tracy High in 1960. While in High School Marc was an active member of FFA. In college he majored in Crop Science and was a member of the fraternity Alpha Gamma Rho. After attending Fresno State University, he joined the National Guard.

Marc returned to Union Island to work in the family farming operation headed by his father Angelo and Uncle Bruno known as Marchini Brothers. In the 1980s Marc, his brother Paul and father Angelo formed A.M. Farms, which predominantly grew asparagus and wine grapes. During his years in farming he was a member of the San Joaquin Farm Bureau, Robert Union Farm Center, chairman of the California Asparagus Commission, and on the board of directors of the Stockton Asparagus Festival. In 2003, Marc was named the Tracy Agriculturalist of the Year.

While farming, Marc found time to serve the community of Tracy for 27 years as a trustee on the school boards of Delta Island, Tracy High, and Tracy Unified districts. As a school board member in 1985, he served as president of the San Joaquin County School Board Association. Marc was instrumental in the planning and building of Merrill F. West High School. He also supported the International Baccalaureate Program at Tracy High School.

He is survived by his wife Linda Marchini, children Marnie Bellini (Darren), Heather Nielsen, Anna Corsaro (Matt), and Michael Burns, five grandchildren Braden, Danielle, Dominic, Jack, and Macsen, brother and sister-in-law Paul and Angie Marchini, his uncle and aunt Bruno and Rosetta Marchini, niece and Goddaughter Erina Mariani (Gus), nephew Angelo Marchini (Heather), and step nieces Regina, Stephanie, and Tara, and step nephews Terry Jr., and Jesse, and cousins Vincent Marchini (Patty), Richard Marchini (Debbie), Nanette Martin (Peter), Renee Coleman.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara, his parents Angelo and Clara Marchini, his aunt and uncle, Nancy and Armando Baldocchi, and his grandparents Marco and Erina Marchini.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 16 from 1:00-7:00 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy, CA 95376, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, August 17, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Marc Marchini’s name to the Tracy or West High FFA.
