Maria Luz Agar Gonzales passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2022 at her home in Tracy, CA at the age of 71. Best known as “Luz” to her family & friends, was born on March 23, 1951 in Negros Occidental, Philippines and was the second born of 13 to her parents to Basilisa Gutierrez Alvarez Agar & Federico Santillan Agar.
Luz worked in a senior care assisted living facility for 15 years. She enjoyed singing and graciously shared her talent as an active member of the Saint Bernard Parish Church choir. She loved watching movies, sewing, cooking, walking along the beach, and being her own fashionista.
Luz was especially generous with sharing her time and talents with family, neighbors and friends.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 18 years, Greg Gonzales and their cherished children, daughter Cathelyn Gonzales & husband Alex Magpantay and son Sherwin Gonzales. She was also blessed with three grandchildren that she treasured dearly, Alex Carlo, Alexandra Rio Claire, Alex Christian. She is also survived by her siblings, Luviz Minda Arang, Felisa Cuadra, Bernardita Tinamisan, Maria Ligaya Fernando, Corazon Otero, Fernando Agar, Danilo Agar, Rafael Agar, Manuel Agar and Elmer Agar.
Luz was proceeded in death by her parents and two siblings Edmund Agar and Federico Agar Jr.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 203 East Washington Street, Stockton. She will be laid to rest immediately following at the Tracy Mausoleum, 8842 West Schulte Road, Tracy.
Flowers are not encouraged due to logistical constraints but the family will appreciate your presence and fervent prayers for the repose of her soul.
