On Wednesday, March 17, 2021 Meredith Lynn Davis, loving family member and friend passed away at the age of 74.
Meredith was born on December 2, 1946 in Stockton and grew up on the family farm in Tracy, CA. She attended Tracy High School and University of California, Davis on a Regents Scholarship. She received her teaching credential from CSU, Chico and taught for many years at Jefferson School in Tracy. She then traveled to Ponca City, OK where she was a teacher/principal. She taught at several schools in Manteca and was the Coordinator of Student Activities and Events for the San Joaquin County Office of Education before retiring in 2011.
Meredith loved of science, nature and education. She was an award-winning teacher that wrote all her own curriculum when teaching science for middle school. She did scientific research in her summers and loved going to Capitola. She greatly enjoyed classical and country music, the symphony and theatre. She was a curious person, an avid reader, and an excellent cook. She was an extremely loving mother and grandmother who enthusiastically gave thoughtful gifts. You always knew she was your #1 fan. She was a true-blue friend who was absolutely adored by all of her “gals” who describe her as a ray of sunshine. She was known for her intelligence, work ethic, kindness, and her love of gardening. She was a member of the UCCE Master Gardeners of San Joaquin Valley and spent many joyful hours in her garden and volunteering.
Meredith was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Marjorie Hanson. She leaves behind her daughter Lynn Fowler (Chuck Huneke), grandchildren Jonathon and Annika, brother Rick Hanson (Liz), and other beloved family and friends.
