Monica Laureen Dias, of Tracy, California, passed away on February 1, 2019, at home surrounded by her family. Born April 26, 1961, in San Francisco, California, she is predeceased by her father, David Robert Lewis Jr., and is survived by her mother, husband, four children, and one grandchild; and a number of other loving relatives and close friends.
Monica kept a hectic schedule and believed that if you wanted something done, give it to a busy person. She coached youth soccer with her daughters for several years, captained Relay For Life teams, and often could be found at a Republican convention or conference trying to change the world.
Monica grew up in the Pacifica, California, and spent her youth camping with her parents, a tradition she continued with her own children. She was a professional on a jet ski and a natural fish in the water. She may have entered this world as a “City Girl” but always craved that “Country” lifestyle. Eventually, she found her cowboy and settled down on a farm in Tracy.
Most people will remember her for the aforementioned but many will have been fortunate to know her for her many other qualities. She provided homes to those with no roof over their head. She prepared meals for people who had no money to eat. She rescued many animals that were at death’s door. She enjoyed having a Coors Light with her family and working the Stockton stadiums; she described those friends as real down to earth people. Her family will always remember her as a strong woman, most supportive mother, and forever a role model they’ll always strive to be.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019. The viewing will start at 9:00 a.m. with service commencing at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1635 Chester Dr., Tracy, California, 95376. Reception to follow at the Elk’s Lodge, 6400 Eleventh St., Tracy, California, 95304.
