Robert M. Furtado Sr. was born in Bethany, Ca on July 7th, 1930. Robert attended grade school at the Old Central School in Tracy, Ca. He attended Tracy High and at an early age started working countless hours with his Father Matthew Furtado at the family dairy on Homestead Road, East of Banta, Ca. After early morning hours milking cows, Robert worked with his Father tractoring and irrigating the fields at the family ranch. In 1950, Robert entered the United States Army during the Korean War. Robert was stationed in South Korea and earned the rank of Sergeant. Robert was in charge of the motor pool that directly transported soldiers to the front line. After receiving an Honorable discharge, Robert went back to the family ranch and began working with his father again.

On July 29, 1956, Robert married Rose Marie Andrade from Hayward, CA. and were married for 63 years. Robert changed careers in 1964 and was employed at the Tracy Defense Depot and went on to work there for 36 years. Robert enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing in the ocean and taking trips to historical parks and landmarks throughout the United States, went on an Alaskan Cruise and visited several countries in Europe with wife, Rose. He enjoyed going to Reno and Tahoe occasionally and enjoyed playing dice and the slot machines. Another one of his favorite hobbies was playing cards with his family on Sunday evenings after dinner.

Robert was a loving, strong and devoted husband and father who will be deeply missed. Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose, parents Matthew and Perpetua Furtado and his two sisters, Dorothy Applin and Mildred Wocasek.
