Robert James Herrington

Robert James Herrington passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 20, 2022.
Bob was born on August 7, 1954 at Mitchell Air Force Base in Long Island, NY to his parents James and Geraldine Herrington. Bob’s parents moved their family to California and eventually settled in Stockton. Bob attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Lincoln High School. He moved on and attended Delta College.
Bob had a stellar career and worked hard throughout his life. He worked 30 years at Pacific Bell and retired at the remarkable age of 49. During his tenure at Pacific Bell, he went back to school and earned his bachelor’s degree from National University where he met his wife, Ann. After retirement, he became a real estate broker, stock day trader and substitute teacher.
Bob filled our hearts with so much joy and laughter, he understood the value of a life well lived. He was a devout Catholic; it was vital to him that his family was united in religion. In 2004, he began the RCIA program through Church of the Presentation in Stockton; he finalized that process in October 2005.
Bob lived an adventurous life and rejoiced in family vacations. He had many hobbies including baseball, skydiving, competitive pistol shooting, martial arts, as well as coached his daughter in soccer, softball and basketball. The thing he loved most of all were barbeques with family.
Bob leaves behind his loving wife, Ann Herrington; daughters Ashley Herrington (Chris), Jennifer Gabriel (Angelo); son Robert Gabriel (Samantha); granddaughters Jenna and Ruby; brothers Ron Herrington (Terry), Randy Herrington (Becky); father in-law Robert Costa and mother in-law Evelyn Costa; brother in-law Robert Costa Jr (Robin); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue, Tracy is honored to serve the Herrington Family. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 West Eaton Avenue, Tracy followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at the Tracy Public Cemetery, 501 East Schulte Road, Tracy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Hospice of San Joaquin.
