Sarojini Sanghera was born in Kapurthala, Punjab, India on June 26th, 1930, daughter of Lachmann Singh and Maha Kaur. She was the third of five children, with an older sister and brother and two younger brothers. She received her BA from Kapurthala and another BA in Teaching Studies from Glassboro State University in New Jersey. She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1969 and settled initially in New Jersey and she worked as a Montessori teacher. She moved to Massachusetts, then Connecticut and finally to Tracy, California in 1999.
She was an accomplished cook, musician, gardener, painter and artist. Her paintings hang all over her house and she gave many of them to her family and friends. She was so well liked by all who knew her as she was so welcoming and friendly that they felt they were part of the family. She had a long and fruitful life and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Traditional Sikh Prayers will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue, Tracy.
