December 20, 1924 ~ June 16, 2018 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Tribute

Jean Thompson Reed, a Tracy resident for 66 years, passed away June 16, 2018, at home at the age of 93.
Jean Reed was born in Chickasaw, OK. on December 20, 1924, and grew up in Oakland, CA. She moved to Tracy in 1952 when her first husband, Alvin Thompson, opened Thompson Neon & Electric.
Jean worked for Deuel Vocational Institution in the education department for 29 years. She also was the Welcome Wagon Hostess in Tracy and started the Newcomers’ Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and taught many groups how to play Bridge.
Jean’s grandchildren were her heart and joy; there is no denying that, her grandchildren were the people she loved greatly. She was like a second mother and all the grandchildren called her Mama Too. Time spent at Mama Too’s house always entailed a home-cooked meal and conversation around the dinner table. Her love for games and reading has been passed down to each generation. She was an extremely accomplished seamstress and made many prom dresses, dance costumes, and numerous outfits.
Loved ones who will miss Jean are her son, James Thompson (Judith Thompson) of Las Vegas, NV; her daughter, Janis Rainey of Tracy; grandchildren Laura Sudderth and Michele Dorman, both of Stockton, Diane Kammeyer of Apple Valley, CA, and James Thompson of Overton, NV. There are eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by both of her husbands, Alvin Thompson and Wilbert Glenn Reed, a sister, Genevieve Christiansen, and a brother, James Phillips.
A service of remembrance will be at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Avenue, Tracy, CA on Friday, June 29 at 11 a.m. Viewing at Fry’s will be held on Thursday, June 28, between noon-5 pm.
Those who wish to remember Jean in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the
