Steven was born in San Ramon Regional Medical Center on October 14, 1993. He attended West Valley Christian Academy from pre-school through middle school and graduated from West High School in Tracy. Heading into college, Steven had many universities who accepted his application to choose from. Ultimately, he decided to attend Sacramento State with a major in nursing and became a member of the Sac State Rowing team. His plan was to become an ER Nurse and after a few years’ experience would get his Master’s in Nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner. This was the perfect profession for Steven since helping others was very important to him. Nothing gave him greater fulfillment than to see that he made a difference in someone’s life whether from a simple act of kindness or serving others despite suffering physical pain. Steven lived his life by a simple mantra, “others before self” and there is no disputing that.
Steven had many interests. He was fond of music which helped him relax, video games, cooking and more recently, baking. He loved cooking and would make extraordinary meals. We even jokingly talked about opening a specialty food truck.
The best thing to happen to Steven was when he fell in love with Megan. She was the love of his life and they were inseparable. They shared common interests and enjoyed exploring life and the world together and recently went on a three week tour of Japan. It was fascinating to hear about their adventures and see the pictures they took. A parent’s love and relationship with their child only goes so far, but the special bond they shared went far beyond that. We believe this gave him the strength to keep going.
Although Steven’s passing came much too soon, we are grateful to God for sharing him with us. He is not gone, he’s just merely exploring the road ahead so that when we are finally reunited, he can show us around. We are not saying goodbye, but rather see you later. In the meantime, please take care of yourself anak ko, keep warm and remember we love you unconditionally for all eternity.
Love,
Dad, Mom and Megan
