Timothy Wilson

July 10, 1952 ~ February 12, 2022 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Tribute

On February 12, 2022 at the age of 69, Timothy Wayne Wilson of Tracy, California was called home by the Lord. Tim was born in Burlington, North Carolina on July 10, 1952, to Polly Carden Wilson Shoemaker and George Cable Wilson and had eight brothers & sisters.

He joined the United States Navy in 1971 and became a Seabee. He was stationed in the Pacific on Midway Island, known as home to the gooney bird, which he loved to tell tales about. He was also stationed on Diego Garcia, an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, as well as spending part of his service in Thailand.

Tim moved from North Carolina to California in the mid-70’s. He worked at various companies such as Alpha Beta, Onizuka Air Force Base, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, as well as being self-employed for a time.

He was firm in his beliefs and would not back down from an argument; but he was also quick to admit when he was wrong. Tim had a huge heart. As one example, once while leaving a movie theater, there was a woman with a man in a wheelchair standing outside the restrooms. No one paid attention to the couple, but Tim went out of his way through a crowd of people coming and going and approached the couple, asking if he could help.  He was always ready to help someone in need.

Tim loved sports, and played them all in high school, with football being his first love. He played semi-pro football after he moved to California. He coached for Tracy Raiders Youth Football Organization and in 2003 he founded and also coached the Tracy Cougars Youth Football Organization.

Tim was proceeded by his parents, sisters Becky and Carol, as well as his brother Randy.

Tim is survived by his siblings George Wilson of Stone Mountain, GA; John Wilson of Raleigh, NC; Ken Shoemaker of Myrtle Beach, SC; Lynn Shoemaker of Wilmington, NC; and Deb Shoemaker of Wilmington, NC, and their families. He has left a huge hole in the hearts of his wife Shannon, and his son and daughter, Kenneth and Melissa, Melissa’s husband Michael, and their two children, Madilynn, 10, and Maverick, almost two years old.

Tim loved his grandchildren fiercely.  He would take Maddie almost every week when she was a toddler to the Tracy library for Story Time and got her her first library card. He really enjoyed taking Maddie to visit state and national parks, from California to South Carolina and everywhere in between. Tim and Maddie FaceTimed frequently and would play games, draw together or just chat about life. He was very proud of Maddie and Maverick and looked forward to going on adventures with both of them in the future. He is greatly missed by all who knew & loved him.

A celebration of Life was held for Tim on March 2, 2022 in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
