Travis John Gassaway

Travis John Gassaway was born on March 30, 1984 to Robert Gassaway and Debra Harris in Walnut Creek, CA. Shortly after Travis’ birth the family moved to Tracy, California where he attended McKinley Elementary School, Monte Vista Middle School, and West High School. Travis was well known in school by his charming smile and outgoing personality. He had a way with the ladies!
As a child Travis played Tracy Raiders football, soccer in the Tracy Youth Soccer League, baseball in Little League and Babe Ruth, tennis during the summers at the Tracy Racquet ball Club, and basketball at the Boys and Girls Club. He loved to ride his bike, skateboard, swim and during the summers he would also travel to Oregon to visit his grandparents.

Travis’ passion in life was being around his family. This included his children, brothers, and even his friends he considered a part of his family. He was the family DJ at every holiday function as well as a karaoke enthusiast and so-called dancer. His favorite holiday was the 4th of July where he got to show his true patriotism through singing and dancing. Everything he did was to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Travis was a jack of all trades. He did all types of work including: masonry, flooring, electrical, road work, and he was knowledgeable in mechanics, but his favorite job was being a dad and uncle, and he was great at it.

On Saturday, May 13 Travis left this life leaving behind his two children, Tristan and Taylor, his mother, father, five brothers, one sister, and a grandmother. He will be missed dearly.

A Celebration of Life for Travis will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue, Tracy, CA. Services will be live streamed via his tribute page at www.frymemorialchapel.com for family & friends unable to attend. An online guest book is also available for condolences and special messages to the family.

A GoFundMe account has been set up on behalf of the family to help with costs for the memorial service and any additional funds will go to his children.
