Victor Manuel Villalobos

Victor Manuel Villalobos, age 99, passed away at his home in French Camp, surrounded by family, on November 30, 2022. He was born in Guadalupe de los Reyes, Sinaloa, Mexico, on January 20, 1923, to Maria Florentina Ortiz and Manuel Villalobos. He married Rufina Peña and they began their life together in Tayoltita, Durango, Mexico.

Victor, Rufina, and their two young sons, immigrated to the United States in the 1950s, eventually settling in Tracy, California. Two daughters completed their family in the 1960s. Victor held various jobs to support his family. He worked for Teichert Aggregates for approximately 30 years before retiring in the late 1980s.

Victor will be remembered for his devotion to family, work ethic, passion for travel and history, and his love for Dodger baseball. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and attending his plants, roses, and many fruit trees. He enjoyed his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often including them in various outdoor chores like animal feeding and fruit-picking. His family is forever grateful for the steadfast love and example of quiet strength he gave to them through joyful and challenging times.

Victor is preceded in death by his wife, Rufina Peña Villalobos, who died in 2017 after nearly 70 years of marriage. He is survived by his four children: Joseph James Villalobos of French Camp, California, John Frank Villalobos (& Sylvia) of Riverside, California, Julia Arredondo (& Gilbert) of Elk Grove, California, and Jeanette Villalobos Tober (& Rodney) of Lathrop, California. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and a larger extended family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 5 pm followed by a rosary at 6 pm, at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Avenue, Tracy, California. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 Eaton Avenue, Tracy. Graveside services will immediately follow the Mass at the Tracy Public Cemetery, 501 E. Schulte Road, Tracy.
